Are you ready to stop being insecure and take your power back?

The time where I made an ass of myself was last summer when I was staying in Mexico with a friend. We met 4 great guys and decided to meet them later at a club. I can’t believe I’m telling you this but we waited for them outside the club for 2 hours. After a while, my friend found the courage to ask me “Why don’t we go inside?” I snapped at her and said: “Knock it off, they’ll be here in a minute”. I’m sure you already guessed it, but I blew an incredible night because I was dying to hang out with strangers.

You’re probably wondering “what in the name of gumballs does this have to do with insecurity and taking my power back?”

If you don’t have confidence in yourself or know how to take a stand, the chances that you’ll screw yourself over to please someone else is big.

So let’s talk about how to build your self-confidence and stand in your power so you don’t make an ass of yourself.

Are you ready to stop being insecure and take your power back?

I’ve been guilty of seeking approval for years.

My therapist once asked me “what do you want to get out of therapy?”
To which I responded “I wanna be like Lexi from The Vampire Diaries. She’s smart, funny, confident, has amazing friends, and she always knows the right thing to say”.

She looked at me and answered; “How about making space for who you are instead?” I froze and immediately thought to myself” She must be one fry short of a happy meal! I can’t be myself. That’s nuts!

The reason I chose therapy in the first place was to please others. Being concerned about other peoples opinions made me wanna cough up money. I was positive that this was the road to confidence yet, it was so soul-sucking I got depressed.

When you choose to change yourself because you’re scared of rejection you’re giving away your power.
By doing that you’re telling yourself that you’re only good enough if others think so. Screw that! You’re enough just the way you are, and I want you to realize that.

If you wanna be self-confident and take your power back, you gotta start turning your attention inward instead of outward. All self-confidence comes from loving yourself.

I’ve found 3 exercises, that will blow your pants off and make you confident if you practice them daily.

Exercise nr. 1

The mirror exercise

Makes this exercise a part of your morning routine and it’ll work like you’ve been drinking a self-love elixir.

Stand in front of a mirror, close your eyes and feel your feet against the floor. Take 3 deep breaths in through your nose, all the way down to your stomach, and out through your mouth. This will help you connect deeply with yourself. Afterward, open your eyes, look yourself in the mirror and ask yourself how you’re doing. Listen carefully and respectfully to yourself and respond with love and care. Then tell yourself 10 good things that you like about yourself. Whatever you feel right at that moment.

Now when I say 10 times, don’t cheat. You need repetition in order for the words to truly manifest in you. This is why it should be a part of your morning routine. It might feel weird or even uncomfortable at first, but with time it will get easier and feel a lot better. So stick with it, please.

Exercise nr. 2

Meditation with positive affirmations

Using positive affirmations is a powerful way to create the world of your dreams. The words you tell yourself becomes your reality. So it’s very important that we choose these words thoroughly.

Meditating with positive affirmations is an effective way to

1. Give yourself a sense of inner peace and

2. Help yourself feel a deep sense of self-love from the inside out.

I found a short and sweet self-love meditation practice for you to try out right now!

It’s linked down below.

Exercise nr. 3

Practice appreciation

Appreciation can lighten up your world like nothing else. So it’s important to keep this a part of your daily routine. It only takes a few seconds but the effects last way longer.
If you mix appreciation with deep breaths you can calm your body and better absorb the words.
Before you turn off the lights at night, thank yourself for all the great things you’ve accomplished that day.
Thank yourself for drinking a gallon of water, for reaching out to a friend or for telling someone that you love ’em. If you practice this you will give yourself self-love and appreciation for who you are and what you bring to this world.

The exercise looks like this:

Inhale… “I am thankful for”

Exhale… “That I’m taking this time to nourish myself”.

It’s simple but very effective!

Now i’d love to hear from you! What part of the post resonated with you the most and why? What can you take away from this post and it into action now?
